I think that college age people are one of the most neglected segments of the church.

Could this be why there are so few of them in an average church?

Thinking back when I was that age (how long ago was that?) I remember thinking that church was boring and I wasn’t so sure what God had to do with my life at that time.

I pray that we can empower college students to live life to the fullest.

Thats the way God intended it to be.

This is not right

Reading the Sun-Times this morning, I noticed an article about a memorial service for Diamond Brownridge. This is the little girl who died after visiting her dentist office in Chicago.

What bummed me out about this article is that it is a memorial service that will be aired on a gospel radio station and it will be at the largest black church in the city.

I feel like this event will not honor this little girl at all. Instead it will be a time for politicians and ministers to grandstand and make a show.

The tragedy of her death looks to be accident. It’s wonderful to minister to the family, but I think that there should be a more private ceremony.

Why do Christians allow such distasteful activities to take place in the church?

A wise man makes more opportunities than he finds

Life is not always easy.

Actually sometimes life sucks.

The media would have us believe that life should be a bed of roses filled with smooth roads and sunny days.

Actually, though, life can be quite challenging.

The trick to reaching our goals in life is being able to handle the obstacles in our path.

1. What is your definition of success?

2. At this present moment do you feel like you are on the path to success?

3. What are some of the challenges that you are facing on your road to success?

4. How do you plan on overcoming these challenges?

5. What would be your ultimate moment of success?

I hope that this is the day that you decide to be an overcomer. I pray that you would decide that no obstacle that you face is greater than the God that resides inside you.

 If you are not a follower of Christ, a Christian, I pray that you make the decision today to make Him the Lord over your life.

He loves you and He made a decision to overcome the obstacle of the cross so that you could enjoys eternity with Him.

Not only that but you can be empowered today to overcome the challenges that you face.

Christ died so that you can be ultimately successful in this world and the world to come.

prosperity

There has been a lot of talk about this weeks Time magazine article about prosperity preachers.

I, for one, can see how people are turned off by the abuse of God’s word by some preachers. These people are obviously into it for personal gain.

However, if God delights in the prosperity of His people (psalm 35:27), why would those of us who are followers of Christ have such a problem with prosperity?

I do not believe that it is the will of God for us to walk around broke or to be in debt up to our eyeballs. Are we helping to finance the gospel around the world or are we helping MasterCard and Visa?

To many people think that prosperity just means money. I believe it means having an abudance in our finances, our health, our relationships and everything else that concerns us.

No, we should not run after wealth, but remember that it is God who gives us the power to obtain wealth (deut. 8:18).

We should use our wealth to feed the homeless, to care for the orphans and elderly, and to make sure the gospel is preached to every human on the face of the earth.

Don’t be afraid of prosperity. Ask God to give you wisdom so that your ENTIRE life will be pleasing to Him.
