6 team building lessons for IMPACT churches (4 of 6)

Manage your money

Churches must maintain good stewardship principles when it comes to their resources.

Like a business, churches must maintain some flexibility when it comes to their finances.
You don’t want to get stuck in a place of putting money into a ministry that is not working.
You must also be aware of areas in your church that could do better if a little more funding was put in place.

A church that wants to make an impact must accept the reality that a budget can be changed.
Giving patterns change and so do spending patterns.

By being a good steward in all areas of finance, churches can be more productive and effective.

Market your assets

Impact churches should recognize what they do best and look to capitalize on their strengths.

Where do you see the most success?
Which of your ministries have the most “wins”?

There is nothing wrong with publicizing what you are good at. As a matter of fact you should be proud to show what God has blessed you with.

We shouldn’t try to “sell” the gospel, but we should seek to promote what He’s doing in our churches.

There are many people who are seeking for somewhere to belong.
They are lost on a world of confusion.

What they need is the light of the love of God to show them the way.

For an IMPACT church to get out into the marketplace is where we belong.

Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which one has overcome while trying to succeed.

Replenish talent – reproduce

To sustain movement and growth, churches must replenish their leaders.

No one was meant to live life alone and no ministry can move forward and attain the success God has for it if there are not people who are ready to step into leadership positions.

Churches that are geared to make an impact are those who identify, develop and position individuals that can carry the vision of the church.
Leaders can’t get caught in a paranoid state about bringing more talent on board.

It has been often said that the best way to know if your vision is from God is if you can achieve it in your lifetime.

Take time to invest in and then reproduce your staff, your leaders, your volunteers and even your whole church.

What an IMPACT you will make.

Establish your philosophy

Consistent, successful organizations find their mission and stick to it.

What is the reason why your church exists?
Do you do things haphazardly, or does your ministry flow from a central purpose or theme.

To be truly effective in making an impact, you must have values that are clearly defined and established.
You must decide early on what your philosophy will be and stay on that course no matter what the obstacle. When you do that, it will become the life blood of your church.
Everyone that becomes a part of your organization needs to know what your mission is from day one.
Repeat it early and often. It should never get old.

When there is clarity as far as direction is concerned, no one should be surprised when you arrive at your destination.

lets go deep

Posted by dturn on October 25, 2007

Perry Noble has a great post about being deep
check it out here

I have been in church all my life and I have been in the ministry for almost 13 years.
I think I probably have seen it all.
It’s amazing how often a minister or pastor stands in front of people with the sole purpose of trying to impress them.
He uses gigantic words to give the impression that he is somehow smarter than everyone else.

He is deep.

I wonder how many lives have been changed by the $1,000 words used in a sermon
I wonder how many marriages have been saved while people are thumbing through a dictionary trying to figure out what was just said.

I wonder how many people leave church worse than when they came in the doors.

I never want to be so deep that I don’t reach the people that God put in my path.
I’m just a regular guy.

Serving an Amazing God.
