It’s amazing what people have been saying about the death of Sean Taylor.

I read today about someone commenting about the “thug life” coming into professional sports.

Thug life = code word (black)

It’s also interesting to note that his coach, Joe Gibbs, and the owner of the Redskins, Daniel Snyder, both recognized a change in Taylors life.

I guess my point is here that when we group people as being thugs, it does more harm than good.

Most of us were one decision away from being a “thug” or worse.
Thank God for His mercy and grace.
Inspite of foolish decisions and choices, it is possible to make a change.

pray

Posted by dturn on November 29, 2007

Today I ask everyone who reads this blog to pray for those who are unemployed.

Pray that God would supernaturally open doors of opportunity.
Also, that the individuals would use their faith in God and have the courage to go to the door and walk in, prepared to apply and receive employment.

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men”.
Matthew 4:19

Whenever I’m on a road trip, I hate to have to follow someone to our destination.
I seem to either drive too slow or I get distracted by the scenery.
Either way, eventually, I lose track of where they are and I inevitably miss a turn.
Who or what we follow has a lot to do with where we end up and how long it takes us to get there.

As you start your day today, who or what are you following?
Are you following the latest trends and losing your identity?
Are you following the money and forgetting your purpose?

Jesus wants us to lay down our desires, our motives, what we really want, in order to follow Him.
In return he promises to give us a life that is really worth living.
He is the only way to get to that life.

If you follow Him, you’ll never be lost.

Father, help me to continue to follow the path that You have set before me. Thank you for opening doors of opportunity on a daily basis for me. Help me to look past the distractions of life. I also ask for the wisdom and guidance to be successful in pursuing Your vision for my life.

8 High Octane ways to unleash the love of God (8 of 8)

Posted by dturn on November 20, 2007

8. Refuse to be denied

Let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Galatians 6:9

Some may be skeptical when you attempt to share the love of God with them.
Our society has become cynical especially when it comes to Christianity.

It is easy to give up and quit when you are met with opposition.

Someone’s life may hang in the balance.
They are looking for you.

No matter what the problem or issue, don’t stop showing love.

7. Create a love-zone

Instead of being offended when people enter your “space”, welcome them in with an atmosphere of love and compassion.

Create a zone that follows you wherever you go.

When you wear cologne or perfume, you can change the atmosphere as soon as you enter a room.
In the same way, wear the love of God so that those you are around will be attracted to what you have.

6. Dive into unfamiliar water

It seems like it is easier to show love to people we know, people with whom we interact on a regular basis.
There is nothing wrong with loving those in our inner circle as long as we don’t close ourselves out to those who don’t “fit in”.

Get out of your comfort zone.
Seek out someone who you don’t normally talk to.
Try to understand who they are.

It may seem awkward at first but the more you do it you’ll see amazing results.

5. Unhook yourself from materialism

“The be-all and end-all of life should not be to get rich, but to enrich the world.”
B. C. Forbes

It’s impossible to really share the love of God when living our lives in selfishness.

Is it about God or is it about us?

We consider our time to be precious to us.
What about those whose time is running out?

By concentrating on what we have or what we want, we allow ourselves to be distracted on the real blessing that awaits us every time we walk out our front door.
When we unhook ourselves from things we can be free to share what has been given to us.
