prayer

Posted by dturn on April 25, 2008

I live in a far southwestern suburb of Chicago and if you have seen the news, there is an escalation of violence in the area.
The weather is getting warmer and there are possibilities for even more shootings (I have no idea what warm weather has to do with violence).
Please join me in prayer for protection of our children and an end to the violence.

get out the way

Posted by dturn on April 23, 2008

I’ve had a rough time lately.
There are some areas in my world that are not wherre I would like them to be.
I’ve taken time to think things over and really get my mind focused.
Most of all, I have prayed that God would work things out.
After all of that, ….. nothing has changed.

What I just realized this morning is that I am getting in the way of my own prayers.

I do that by saying the right things but not following it up with actions.
I do it by not consistently listening to what God has to say.
I do it by getting distracted by others blessings (answered prayers).
I do it by wanting to look good but feeling like crap inside (not being real).

I know that none of us is perfect.
This is just my way of humbling myself before God.

I need to get out the way.

earthquake

Posted by dturn on April 18, 2008

There was an earthquake early this morning in southern Illinois.
It was incredible that we felt it way up here.

I thought it was my stomach rumbling at 4 a.m.

back again

Posted by dturn on April 16, 2008

I have been a little busy lately :>
Nothing major just preaching last Sunday, blessing a friends home, and work.

God has really shown me some things that I need to tighten up on.
Just when I was about to start complaining, He let me know where I missed it at.

He has called me and my family to dominate in every area we walk in.
Now, before you think I’m being arrogant, let me explain.

To dominate doesn’t mean to rule over or walk on.
I believe it means to lead in character and integrity, to show the way to success.

God has blessed us with gifts and talents that He wants us to use to bless others and bring glory to Him.
If we don’t use these, we won’t have a fulfilled life.
We were made for more than average, more than mediocrity.
People are looking for us to lead.
We’ve got to do it.

Let’s Go!

50 day challenge (day 16)

Posted by dturn on April 11, 2008

Acts 6:1-7

The issue of favoritism has come up.
To solve this issue 7 men were chosen to distribute food to the people.
The Apostles had a criteria in place to select the right individuals.
The men who were to be chosen had to be full of the Holy Spirit and the had to be full of wisdom.
After this selection process was complete, the word of God increased the numbers of believers very quickly.

Lord, give us grace and give us wisdom.
Let us as leaders recognize that we need help.
Give us the desire to see others fullfilling their calling by joining with us in loving You and serving others.
Let their never be any favoritism in our daily living.’
Let all we do, honor you.
Amen.
