turning the world to Christ

before you go shopping

Posted by dturn on November 13, 2008

The holidays are fast approaching.
People are already packing out the malls on the weekend.
Economy down? I am not so sure.

Before you get charged up (pun?) to hit the stores to get another toy for a child that has way too many, I want you to consider this:

There are thousands of children and adults who don’t have as much as we have.
Many of these people are residents of the city that we live in.
Some of these people have never felt the love of God in action.

One person that I know who is making a difference is my guy Shaun King.
Shaun is planting a Courageous Church (Atlanta) that will be jumping off their services in January 09.
In the mean time, they are busy making a difference in the lives of people in the ATL.

One of their initiatives is to bless the students of Bethune Elementary School with 500 school uniforms and toys for Christmas.
All it takes to help is $25 for the uniform and $15 for the toy.

With 98% of these students living at or below the poverty line, what’s needed is more than a
“I’ll pray for you” or a “God is going to bless you”.

What’s needed is the people of God, people with a heart full of love to open up their wallets and purses and make a difference in a childs life.

It’s time to ACT not just TALK.
